Interview with Louise Mallarkey by PoliticsUK
About her years of homelessness
At 9:30 on Thursday 12 July we interviewed Louise Mallarkey. A regular reader and contributor to the PUK community. She found herself in a long period of being homeless in her late teens. I thank her for sharing her insights into homelessness.

Thanks Sheena. My view on this is that cannabis should be legalised and treat the same way as alcohol, with an age restriction of at least 18 and taxed. Hemp could be grown to provide a renewable source of paper and fabrics. Cannabis could then be given on prescription to people who genuinely need it for pain/ quality of life. Growing your own in small amounts should be treat the same way as home-brewing alcohol. Not only would all this mean a boost for the environment and economy, the time effort and money spent on cracking down on cannabis could then be focused solely on hard drugs such as crack cocaine and heroin. I believe the sentencing for dealing these drugs should be similar to attempted murder. For example a small time dealer caught with 7 wraps should be charged with 7 attempted murders. A big time supplier/ importer should get life (as in LIFE, not a few measly years). The justice system lets hard drug dealers off time and time again, or give them community service or very short easy to manage sentences. No wonder they feel its a small price to pay for the money they make and the lush lifestyles they lead in the society they are killing
